A Brief Weather Observation on a Saturday
It's Easter weekend, and in Minnesota Easter 2007 will be colder than Christmas 2006. Today it's 21 degrees F. but feels Like 7° degrees F. at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport, according to weather.com. On December 24 of last year it was 32 degrees F.
UPDATE: A second Northwest Airlines hub is Detroit. Today the temperature in Detroit was 27 degrees and SNOWING. On Christmas just a few months ago the mercury topped out at 50 degrees.
Now, how about those iPods for all the Detroit school children?
Climate change naysayers love this cold weather. "Aha!" they say, "Your global warming theories are all bunk."
I dunno. I kind of like to believe the majority of scientists on this issue. It's sort of like believing in Pascal's wager, which a lot of global warming deniers like to quote on theological matters. Here would be the climate change equivalent:
- If global warming exists and we act accordingly, we avoid climate catastrophe.
- If global warming exists and we don't act accordingly, then we face climate catastrophe.
- If global warming does not exist, and we act as if global warming does exist, we may shift economic priorities but we will not face climate catastrophe.
- If global warming does not exist, and we continue business as usual, we gain or lose nothing.
