WASHINGTON — Global warming could be a boon to Russia, a European country could be overrun by organized crime and the U.S. and its dollar could further decline in importance during the next two decades, says a U.S. intelligence report with predictions for the world in 2025.
The report, Global Trends 2025, is published every four years by the National Intelligence Council to give U.S. leaders insight into looming problems and opportunities.
The report says the warming earth will extend Russia and Canada's growing season and ease their access to northern oil fields, strengthening their economies. But Russia's potential emergence as a world power may be clouded by lagging investment in its energy sector, persistent crime and government corruption, the report says.
Analysts also warn that the same kind of organized crime plaguing Russia could eventually take over the government of an Eastern or Central European country. The report is silent on which one.

All I can say is "Finally!". For too long, America has been the ATM to the world, police to the world, enforcer to the world, rescuer of every calamity from AIDS in Africa to tidal waves in Thailand to the world and been a shining example of peace and democracy. But, no more!
Finally, the American tax payer no longer has to dole out money and aid to countries who have little regard for our way of life and have no regard for our generosity.
Finally, countries like China, Russia, Iran, Venezuela and the countries of the EU can step up and fill the void which will be left behind now that American supremacy is gone. Their oil wealth can be the catalyst for a new human beginning in the world!
Finally, sanity will come to the world because since 1945, America has just been a meddler in the affairs of other countries. I, for one, look forward to Russian aid to Africa to fight AIDS. I look forward to Hugo Chavez sending medical teams and supplies to remote parts of the world that suffer natural disasters. I look forward to the vast Chinese charitable networks to care for the sick, the young, the malnourished and the poor around the world. I look forward to Iran and Saudi Arabia building orphanages and hospitals and food distribution centers in war-torn countries rather than building 10 million-dollar mosques in every village in those same war-torn countries.
Finally, America gets to take a long deserved rest from trying to rescue the world. We can now look internally and finally pay attention to the problems that afflict us inside our own borders.
Perhaps one day America can return to its lofty position as the supreme country on the planet. But, I say it's high time to let some other countries to step up and take charge in the world!
Farewell to American Supremacy - FINALLY!!
