The trouble with farmed salmon

Americans are eating more and more salmon, drawn to its rich taste and health benefits. Increasingly they are choosing farmed salmon because of its wide availability and low price. But in the last few years, farmed salmon has been surrounded by controversy over its health risks and the ecological impacts of salmon aquaculture operations. Studies have shown that some farmed salmon is relatively higher in contaminants like PCBs than wild salmon, and there is mounting concern over the industry's impact on wild salmon populations.
