Paul Ryan outraised by House opponent

Rob Zerban is cashing in on the fact that his opponent for the House of Representatives is also the Republican vice presidential nominee.

Zerban’s campaign announced Thursday that it raised $770,000 in the third quarter of 2012, outpacing Rep. Paul Ryan.

Ryan’s House campaign raised $566,743 from 2,700 individual donors with a largely absent candidate.

Kevin Seifert, Ryan’s campaign manager, said the Wisconsin congressman stopped attending fundraisers for his House race immediately after he was selected as Romney’s running mate. The campaign still has $4 million on hand after spending $1.8 million.

“We feel good about where we are,” Seifert told POLITICO.
