Poll: Economic gloom hits new high; most still blame George W. Bush

Disgust with the economy is at its all-time high in President Barack Obama’s term, with an astounding 90 percent of Americans calling economic conditions in the United States dismal in a new poll.

Just 10 percent of those surveyed in a CNN/ORC International Poll released Friday said they rate economic conditions in the U.S. as good. The 90 percent saying the economy is poor is the worst figure of Obama’s presidency, up 9 percent from the 81 percent who told pollsters the same in June.

Since 1997, the percentage of Americans saying economic conditions are poor has been higher just once before — in December 2008, just before Obama took office.

In the August jobs report released Sept. 2, bleak figures abounded for Obama’s 2012 reelection bid — the unemployment rate remains stuck at 9.1 percent, and the economy did not add any net jobs that month.

But more Americans still blame President George W. Bush for the economic conditions in the country today, with 52 percent saying Bush and the Republicans are responsible, while 32 percent lay the blame on Obama and the Democrats.

I read that the only difference between Republicans and Democrats is that Democrats want to tax and spend and Republicans only want to spend. My recommendation – read Hayek, not Krugman.

Too bad Bush is not on the ballot...but Obama is, for now anyway. Obama will bear the brunt from those who now blame Obama for the economic mess rather than Bush.
