Gingrich Sees Plunge in Support After Rocky Start

Newt Gingrich’s image as an idea man and party leader positioned him well for a presidential run. But since launching his campaign last month, Mr. Gingrich has seen his support erode among likely GOP voters, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.
Just 32% of Republican primary voters viewed him positively in the latest poll, compared to 50% in April.
Over the same span, the share of GOP voters who view him negatively has jumped to 34%, up from just 13% in April.
Among all self-identified Republicans, 28% viewed Gingrich positively and 33% negatively.
And among all people polled, Mr. Gingrich was viewed negatively by 48%, an all-time high in Journal polling. Some 16% viewed him positively.
