Just let the Bush tax cuts expire in 2012, as they’re currently scheduled to do:
Even better, because expiration is the legislative status quo, you wouldn’t need to break a filibuster to do it. Quite the opposite, in fact: You’d need to break a filibuster in order to keep it from happening.

what is to prevent the government from increasing spending wiht the increased tax revenue. Tax increases do nothing to close the budget gap if spending outpaces the additional revenue.
