So the House passed the Waxman-Markey climate-change bill. In political terms, it was a remarkable achievement.
But 212 representatives voted no. A handful of these no votes came from representatives who considered the bill too weak, but most rejected the bill because they rejected the whole notion that we have to do something about greenhouse gases.
And as I watched the deniers make their arguments, I couldn’t help thinking that I was watching a form of treason — treason against the planet.

Krugman is a complete idiot. I just love the hyperbole in marginalizing those of us scientists who dispute man-made global warming (or is it climate change) as 'denialists' or 'deniers'. I have been saying for years that global warming (or is it climate change?) is due to solar activity, not carbon emissions here on earth. Then, in August 2008, the first month without sunspots since 1913 was the culmination of reduced solar activity first suggested in 2005 by William Livingston and Matthew Penn of the National Solar Observatory. Their paper was denied publication in Science on the grounds it was too controversial - in other words, it would blow a huge hole in the politically correct global warming agenda.
the continued lull in the sun's activity has led to a global reduction in temperatures so much that the increases since 1900 have been wiped out in the last two years according to the four major temperature recording outlets: Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, and RSS.
To be sure, arctic ice levels have returned to 1979 levels and record cold has been recorded all over the world since the start of 2008 - snow in Bahgdad, record cold in China, Iran, Chile, Argentina, Texas, Florida, and even record cold in Greenland...the list goes on and on.
The point is Krugman is a global cooling denier and simply ignores opposing points of view. As I have repeated ad nauseum on this blog, consensus is not science. Consensus is political. The global cooling data is undeniable now to the point the debate is far from settled, despite what politicos such as Krugman and Gore have to say. Even the june 28 star tribune had no choice bu tto publish a story about the concern about the massive reduction in solar activity in the last two years.
So, it would appear the sun is the real culprit. And we just passed a cap-and-tax scheme to based on a complete canard. For as smart as Obama is, he's a friggin moron when it comes to science.
