Our new Research 2000 poll (conducted on Thursday and Friday for Daily Kos, MOE 4%) makes it clear that the only people enthusiastic about Coleman's lawsuit are his Republican supporters.
Independents, on the other hand, can't wait for Coleman to just go away:
Do you favor or oppose Norm Coleman's legal challenge to Al Franken's victory?
INDEPENDENTS ONLY:
FAVOR: 25%
OPPOSE: 56%
NOT SURE: 19%
52% of independents believe Al Franken should be provisionally seated, and just 34% think the seat should remain vacant. Moreover, while independents have a predictably mixed view of Al Franken (45% favorable, 46% unfavorable), they just don't like Norm Coleman:
Norm Coleman favorable rating
INDEPENDENTS ONLY:
FAVORABLE: 35%
UNFAVORABLE: 64%
NO OPINION: 1%
There's a bright side for Coleman, though. His numbers are probably better than those of George W. Bush.
