I want to take back everything bad I have ever said about Andrew Sullivan because this is one of the greatest cut-through-the-bullshit posts I have ever read:

This deluded and delusional woman still doesn't understand what happened to her; still has no self-awareness; and has never been forced to accept her obvious limitations. She cannot keep even the most trivial story straight; she repeats untruths with a ferocity and calm that is reserved only to the clinically unhinged; she has the educational level of a high school drop-out; and regards ignorance as some kind of achievement. It is excruciating to watch her - but more excruciating to watch those who feel obliged to defend her.

Her candidacy, in short, was indefensible. It remains indefensible.

Sarah Palin was the mayor of a city with a population slightly larger than my high school (Go Warhawks!). She has spent two years as Governor of a state with half the population of my city (Tourists go home...but leave your daughters!). She speaks using chunklets of buzz words and phrases that are entirely unrelated to each other, as in :

BLITZER: Does that mean you want to come up with a new Sarah Palin initiative that you want to release right now.

PALIN: Gah! Nothing specific right now. Sitting here in these chairs that I’m going to be proposing but in working with these governors who again on the front lines are forced to and it’s our privileged obligation to find solutions to the challenges facing our own states every day being held accountable, not being just one of many just casting votes or voting present every once in a while, we don’t get away with that. We have to balance budgets and we’re dealing with multibillion dollar budgets and tens of thousands of employees in our organizations.

It's as if you took the head of Eliza Doolittle filled it with the brains of Chauncey Gardener and then put it in charge of your homeowners association. She just spews things that are supposed to sound 'smart' knowing full well that no interviewer is going stop her by asking " What the fuck are you talking about? Are you an idiot?". The only thing worse than a person with a little knowledge is a person who doesn't know what they don't know but figures it will all work out in the end. Fat-headed, drunk on power and stupid is no way to through life, much less run an administration.

We tried that for eight years. The reviews are in: it was awful.

Having said that, the Republicans still seem to be listening to Bill Kristol, the Wile E. Coyote of political stratagems, and are intent of foisting this national punchline on their party in 2012.

Please. Do it. When has Bill Kristol ever been wrong?
