Sarah Palin: An Insult to the Female Intelligence
from iReport
I would like to provide a response from young women (18-25) here in Houston, Texas. I started a dialog amongst my friends and peers, many of which considered themselves Republican. We came up with this statement, which we have posted across the internet, hoping to reach young women across the country.
It is difficult for us to explain how insulting this decision is to our intelligence and judgment as a women, but we will try.
Let's explain:
John McCain met this woman ONE time before choosing her as his pick for VP. From a man who has said on many many occasions that he prides himself on his close personal relationships with his friends in Washington, this move seems quite out of character. This shows us that her being the VP pick was more of a strategic move, rather than a sound judgment of character.
This woman has little actual governing experience, and absolutely no international experience. She was a MAYOR of a city of less than 8,000 people, then Governor of ALASKA for less than two years. We are not saying the size of the town and population and location of the state diminish the experience, it just shows the exaggerated leap to being considered second in line to RUN THE COUNTRY.
The Republican Party keeps defending her foreign experiences by claiming "Her son is heading to Iraq" and that gives her an understanding of foreign policy. Are you kidding us? Thousands of families have children overseas fighting in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, that does not make them qualified to be Ambassadors, it does not give them foreign policy understanding, and it does not make them a more likely candidate for President.
