Klobuchar's big lead: GOP's flawed message
(from the Minneapolis StarTribune, July 18, 2006)
It's no surprise that Amy Klobuchar is leading Mark Kennedy in the Minnesota Poll (Star Tribune, July 17).
Kennedy and the Republican Party have rejected the entire menu of conservative principles: balanced budgets, limited government, checks and balances, prudent use of force, individual freedoms and modernism with ethics.
Instead, we have libertarian, tax cut-and-spend economics; an all-powerful unitary executive that rejects any checks on its power and claims the right to conduct unprovoked attacks under any pretense it chooses; a venal, corrupt regime funded by the DeLay/Abramoff corporate shakedown machine; and a gay-bashing agenda intended to appeal to people's worst instincts, along with flag-waving to divert attention from their policy failures.
