A former CIA agent pulls no punches...
Supporters of the President like to characterize as unpatriotic those who point out his mismanagement of the the nation. This, of course, is the opposite of the truth. Many of the President's harshest critics have served their country in the military and the government under both Democratic and Republican administrations.
One such critic is Larry C. Johnson, who worked for the CIA from 1985 to 1989 and was Deputy Director in the U.S. State Department’s Office of Counter Terrorism from 1989 to 1993. Presently he is CEO of an international business consulting firm that helps corporations and governments manage threats posed by terrorism and money laundering.
In short, Mr. Johnson could hardly be called a pansy-assed liberal.
In his blog, No Quarter, he writes with the force of a man who's been betrayed. An excellent example is his essay of April 6 entitled "George W. Bush, Rogue President".
When posting the material of others our normal policy is to give the first paragraph or so of the article and then provide a link to its entirety. In this case we will give you Mr. Johnson's concluding paragraph, which sums up in unsparing terms this former CIA operative's point of view. He is writing of the revelation that President Bush, through Vice President Cheney, instructed I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby to leak classified information to the press in order to discredit administration foes:

Today's revelation is simple and riveting--the effort to smear Joe Wilson went to the very top of the White House. This was not an operation of rogue political operators. Instead, we have a rogue President. If we can impeach a President for lying about a blow job from an intern, the time has come to impeach a President from giving the American people a line of bullshit about Iraq used to justify a war that has left almost 2400 American soldiers dead. George Bush did not leak to protect America. He leaked to cover his ass. That, my friends, is the definition of a coward. We suggest you read the entire article here.
