ST. PAUL -- Parade-goers in Minnesota's 1st Congressional District will be seeing a lot of two Republican candidates for Congress this year.

State Sen. Dick Day will be driving a new black Ford Explorer that says "You know where he stands."

Day showed off the campaign vehicle at a news conference on the Capitol steps on Tuesday. He says he will go to nearly 50 parades in the southern part of the state.

Day is running against Brian Davis, a Mayo Clinic doctor who got the GOP endorsement two months ago.

Davis says he has already started marching in parades and expects to beat Day in the September primary with the support of state and national Republicans.

They are fighting to challenge incumbent Rep. Tim Walz, a Democrat.

As I recall when candidate Walz criss-crossed the district introducing himself to voters, he had an E-85 vehicle … and had to search for stations that pumped E-85.

The AP story doesn’t tell us the fuel that his new vehicle uses, but considering Dick Day’s love for NASCAR, his choice of vehicle is a direct solicitation to those voters. The only thing that may be missing from a Day’s vehicle and a NASCAR vehicle, is the logos … which will be first on – a NRA or Minuteman ?
